I Wish I Was an Octopus...

If I had eight arms, I might be able to finish my Christmas knitting list. It's just not going to happen and I'm going to have to let it go. I'm trying to look on the bright side though - this means I get to do more shopping. And I already know what I'm going to knit for certain people's birthdays...
Well, here it is... (Pant, pant.) I finally finished (pant, pant) the Esther Williams hat for the (pant) Poor Miss Finch Synchronized Knit-along which ended today!!!!

See those pretty crocheted edges? For some reason they disappear when I put the hat on. Oh well, hopefully it will look better on the gift-receiver. (This is only way I could justify participation in such a thing this close to Christmas!) Here I'm trying to do a synchronized swimmer pose (never mind that I'm wearing a sweater... and the closest water source was my bathroom sink.)

Oh, and last Saturday we went to Phil's company "Holiday" party so we got some more pics of the duster and my new haircut...

I asked the woman who was cutting my hair to give me few "wisps" to frame my face, so I totally began freaking out when she gave me bangs. These pics were taken just moments after I frantically worked (despite the gobs of hairspray this same woman found necessary to curl my hair with...) to pull the sides back into something presentable and I had taken a few deep breaths to calm myself. I've since decided the look works for me, but it took a bit of convincing from my sweet husband.

The hat looks great. You said the edge disappears, and squinting at my computer screen, I am wondering if you did the crochet repeat over 2 repeats of knitting or one.

Hmmm... Maybe it's because I'm not that familiar with crocheting technique - I thought the pattern said only to do it in the knit stitches, but perhaps I was supposed to include the purl ones as well? I don't know - it looks fine, so I think I'll leave it be.
